UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

 

            This section covers the United States and its political possessions.  It includes all fifty states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the U. S. Virgin islands, and a number of islands in the Pacific Ocean—in addition to Hawaii—where the United States has various types of political responsibility. 

 

 

For web-viewing ease, this selection is divided into five regions:

 

 

NORTHEAST AND MID-ATLANTIC:  Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

 

SOUTHEAST AND MID-SOUTH:  Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Virgin Islands, Washington DC, and West Virginia.

 

GREAT LAKES AND GREAT PLAINS:  Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, and Wisconsin.

 

NORTHWEST:  Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington, and Wyoming.

 

SOUTHWEST AND PACIFIC:  Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and various Pacific Islands.
