CALIFORNIA

California is a big state, with a lot of attractions.  It stretches over almost ten degrees of latitude (it’s more than 800 freeway miles from the Oregon border to the Mexican border).  It has a seacoast, deserts, high mountains, low mountains, and a wide variety of landscapes.  Consequently, it has almost a hundred distinct climatic areas.  Places only a few miles from one another can have very different weather conditions.

Because of the large number of Sunshine Guides available, California is divided into five areas:

LOS ANGELES METROPOLITAN AREA

SAN FRANCISCO METROPOLITAN AREA

NORTHERN CALIFORNIA

CENTRAL CALIFORNIA

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
